Getting to the Greenhouse

Rieveschl Hall

View of Rieveschl Hall from the Zimmer Roof Garden.

Enter the building through the ground floor, which is actually floor 4, or through the 6th floor, via the Zimmer Roof Garden entrance. The hallways are set up in an H layout, with stairwells at each corner and an elevator that's located toward the northwest corner of the building. The greenhouse is on the 9th floor and can only be accessed through the northeast stairwell. The easiest path is to take the elevator to the eighth floor and then walk to the other side of the building and walk up the final staircase.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Bathrooms and water fountains are located on the 8th floor at either end of the central hallway. There are no facilities on the 9th floor.
  • Temperatures in the greenhouse are usually between 75 and 85 degrees F, although on sunny summer days temps can be in the 90s with high humidity. Please plan clothing accordingly and bring water bottles.
  • Please wear suitable footware; the floor is often wet and can be slippery, so closed toed shoes with traction are recommended.
  • There are cubbies outside the entrance to store layers or bags, for your convenience.
  • There are collapsable chairs outside the entrance that you are welcome to use.
