Charles Julian Altendorf

Charles Altendorf, M.S., is a Senior GIS Specialist with Kentucky American Water and a geospatial professional with more than a decade of experience in geographic information systems, utility mapping, digital asset management, and geospatial analysis. He specializes in the development and maintenance of enterprise GIS solutions supporting water and wastewater infrastructure, utilizing technologies including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, AutoCAD, QGIS, and GPS data collection systems. A high school graduate from Florence, Kentucky, Charles has built his career throughout Kentucky and the Greater Cincinnati region, working with utilities, local governments, engineering firms, and transportation agencies to improve infrastructure management and support critical community services.
His experience includes managing digital mapping records, implementing open-source GIS solutions, training staff and contractors, and supporting field data collection initiatives. While at Hardin County Water District No. 1, he helped lead a GIS modernization effort that earned both a Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP) Exemplary Systems Award and a URISA ESIG Certificate of Achievement
Charles is actively involved in the geospatial profession and served as President of the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP), following previous service as a board member. He is passionate about professional development, mentoring emerging GIS professionals, and advancing the application of geospatial technologies within the utility industry
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography along with a Master of Science in Digital Mapping from the University of Kentucky's New Maps Plus program. He also earned a certificate in QGIS for Hydrological Applications from the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education.

Dr. Christopher Carr: After retiring from a nearly 30 year career in Engineering at a multinational corporation I returned to school, receiving my PhD in 2014 from the Department of Geography at University of Cincinnati. My research is focused on human-environmental impacts, both ancient and modern. I study modern impacts within the field of Recreation Ecology—particularly impacts from camping, hiking and rock climbing. In the area of ancient impacts, I use spatial analysis to examine Landscape Archaeology issues such as settlement pattern, agricultural potential and hydrology. Matthew (Matt) DiBona is a geospatial and natural resource professional with more than a decade of experience advancing urban forestry, parks management, and sustainable land use initiatives. He currently serves as Senior GIS Analyst for the Cincinnati Park Board, where he leads the development of advanced geospatial models and decision-support tools that guide citywide investment in parks, greenspace, and canopy equity.
Matt specializes in GIS analytics, urban sustainability, and innovative funding frameworks that create long-term support for public space and forestry programs. His work includes building the Cincinnati Greenspace Model, Capital Funding Model, and Park Equity Accelerator in partnership with the Trust for Public Land — projects that have contributed to Cincinnati’s national recognition as a top city for park access and quality.

Sarah Grace Goodrich

Sarah (Dr. G) graduated from UC with a PhD in Geography in spring of 2025, a Masters in Geography in summer 2022, and a BS in Biology from Northern Kentucky University in December 2019.
She has been an adjunct for her alma mater for 5 years. She has taught a variety of introductory level geography and environmental science courses.
Sarah's work currently focuses on managing volunteer water quality monitoring groups, remote sensing research, public communication about HABs, and routine lake sampling.

Jack Alexander Humason

Jack Humason is the GIS Help Desk Team Lead with the GIS Support Team at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, where he provides technical support, leads user training initiatives, administers ArcGIS Server, and is working to integrate FME into organizational workflows to enhance data automation and interoperability.

Ruijia Hu is a geographer and GIScientist whose work examines how human land-use decisions interact with ecological patterns and processes across spatial scales, creating trade-offs between urban development and biodiversity conservation. Her research aims to understand how local land-use decisions accumulate to reshape habitat availability and landscape connectivity, how these changes affect wildlife conservation across spatial scales, and how geospatial tools can support planning strategies that better reconcile urban development with ecological conservation.
Joshua Keith Murphy

Joshua is a professor of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Analytical Computer Cartography. Throughout his academic career, he has worked to design, expand, and teach graduate programs for Xavier University and, more recently, the University of Cincinnati's Department of Geography. He earned his GIS certificate, undergraduate degree, and graduate degree in Geography, specailizing in GIS, from the University of Cincinnati in 2010 and 2012.
In addition to his academic background, Joshua leverages 17 years of professional geospatial analysis experience within local government. He previously served as a Senior Computer Programmer for the City of Cincinnati, which included a ten-year tenure with the Cincinnati Area Geographic Information System (CAGIS). Most recently, he has spent seven years administering Cityworks, the enterprise asset management platform for the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD).

Madison White is a geospatial data scientist with 6 years of experience in waste- and stormwater management. She is currently with Sanitation District No. 1 of Northern Kentucky, where she maintains all stormwater related assets, statisitcal anaylsis, GIS training and education, and overall GIS support for SD1.

Her work includes creating models to track SD1 owned/maintained assets, properties that do/do not need septic, and all apartments and duplexes within Boone, Kenton, and Campbell Counties. She developed maps of Covid-19 being traced in wastewater in partnership with the University of Lousiville, as well as other public safety projects.
