The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) was founded by its parent organization, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), in 1968. Today, PRSSA has more than 9,600 members in 284 universities across the country. The purpose of PRSSA is to cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional Public Relations practitioners.

The University of Cincinnati Chapter gained their charter in 2005 and has since grown to more than 100 local members and nearly 50 National members. The Chapter also has a growing relationship with the local Cincinnati PRSA Chapter. Our mission:

To serve our members by enhancing their knowledge of public relations and providing access to professional development opportunities
To serve the public relations profession by helping to develop highly qualified, well-prepared professionals

UC Influence is a student-run PR firm affiliated with UC PRSSA. Every fall, the firm does a competitive campaign; every spring, they do a local/non-profit campaign. The firm has been recognized twice in recent campaigns for their competitive work. They were invited to present to industry and government representatives in Washington D.C. in 2013 and 2016. Their competitions and campaigns provide PR students an excellent opportunity for professional learning experiences while enabling them to have fun, to practice their strategic thinking and campaign building skills, and to prepare them for professional practice. All students are welcome!

Lambda Pi Eta is the honor society of the National Communication Association.

The University of Cincinnati’s chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, Omega Sigma, exists to honor outstanding students within the Communication program, network students academically and professionally with each other and communication alumni, and encourage community engagement.

The Six Goals of Lambda Pi Eta are:

Recognize, foster, and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in Communication Studies
Stimulate interest in the field of Communication
Promote and encourage professional development among Communication majors
Provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of Communication
Establish and maintain closer relationships between faculty and students
Explore options for graduate education in Communication Studies

To qualify for membership, communication majors must be juniors or seniors with a 3.0+ university GPA, and finished 12+ credit hours within the Communication program with a 3.25+ GPA. Each fall, all qualified nominees will be contacted with more details.
