A&S Student Organizations

The college of Arts & Sciences offers a vibrant array of student organizations that enhance the students experience beyond the classroom. Whether you're passionate about the humanities, social sciences or natural sciences, there's something for you! From major-specific organizations to honorary societies and special interest groups, you'll find plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow Bearcats. The College of Arts and Sciences Student Ambassadors is a service organization for A&S student leaders. Ambassadors serve as the "face" of the student body and actively engage in college events and programs (such as Bearcat Brunches and College Close-ups).

The A&S Tribunal consists of undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences. They represent the students of the college on all relevant issues, inclkuding curriculum, academic standards and computing services. The Tribunal also assists students with professional, social and leadership development whenever possible.

Sociology majors of at least junior standing (and other such students who demonstrate a serious interest in sociology) who have:

  • Completed at least four regular sociology courses
  • Maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher in this course work
  • an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

are eligible for induction into AKD, the International Sociology Honorary Society. Interested students should submit their names in writing to the director of undergraduate studies for consideration no later than the last Friday of January.

Anthropos is an organization with the goal of creating a discourse regarding all anthropological fields among undergraduate and graduate students at UC.

Bearcats for Israel at the University of Cincinnati is a student-led community at UC that seeks to educate fellow students and faculty members with regard to the culture, politics, and history of the State of Israel. Our organization is committed to facilitating a bipartisan, well-rounded environment where students from all backgrounds can feel comfortable asking questions, challenging viewpoints, and engaging in difficult conversations. 

 Chabad House is a Jewish Student Center at the University of Cincinnati.

ChemCats is an undergraduate chemistry organization that provides students both within and outside chemistry-related fields opportunities to volunteer, network, socialize, relax, develop professionally, and so much more. We place a heavy emphasis on outreach activities and work to promote chemical education in the community.

Club Hispano is a campus organization that unites students who are interested in learning about Hispanic cultures, the Spanish language and everything related to the Latinx community in order to enhance their course work/work knowledge which are otherwise confined to the classroom, and finding a community of others like them.

GeoCats is the official student organization of the Department of Geography designed to fascilitate social, educational, and service opportunities for Geography majors, minors, and friends.

The Department of Geosciences' Undergraduate and Graduate Geology Clubs meet on a regular basis and plan geology-related extracurriculur activities, such as trips to local and regional mineral and gem shows and winter and spring break field trips.

The purpose of the UC German Club is to bring students with a common interest in German language and culture together in a social atmosphere on and off campus. We hold functions throughout the year to provide students with the opportunity to become involved with the German department and promote the use of the German Language outside of the classroom.

We host regular study groups before midterms and finals each semester that allow students of all levels to help one another prepare for exams. We hold social functions on campus, such as our German movie series, and club soccer game. German Club members also meet as a group off campus to go hiking (wandern gehen) or meet at some of the many German-cultural events in Cincinnati (Oktoberfest, Christkindlmarkt, Schuetzenfest, etc.). Membership is open to all UC students. 

Cincinnati Hillel is a gathering place for Jewish Students at the University of Cincinnati. Through programming, education and community service we strive to help students find their identities socially, intellectually and spiritually. In a welcoming environment, our goal is to create opportunities for students to deepen their connection to Jewish identity and community.

The University of Cincinnati offers multiple language student groups that offer a variety of activities engaging with different languages and cultures. All proficiency levels are welcome!

Lambda Pi Eta is the honor society of the National Communication Association. The University of Cincinnati’s chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, Omega Sigma, exists to honor outstanding students within the Communication program, network students academically and professionally with each other and communication alumni, and encourage community engagement.

Political Science and International Affairs students can get leadership experience through the APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) Simulation, in which teams of our undergraduates lead local high school students from a wide range of area schools in an interactive simulation of an APEC meeting, held annually on the UC campus.

Model APEC is a student simulation of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. APEC's 21 member countries range from Chile to Canada, Mexico to Malaysia, and Australia to China. The topics covered by APEC range from trade and investment to environmental and health concerns to global politics and the war on terrorism. 

A captivating journey into the world of diplomacy and global problem-solving! In Model UN, you’ll immerse yourself in the art of role-playing as delegates representing different global actors and debating pressing international issues. Sharpen your negotiation skills, enhance your public speaking prowess, and cultivate your understanding of a variety of cultures and viewpoints. Through spirited simulations of United Nations conferences, you’ll forge connections, forge resolutions, and gain invaluable insights into the complexities of our interconnected world. Join us and discover the thrill of shaping international relations, one thought-provoking debate at a time.

The Neurosociety is a group of undergraduate students looking to learn more about the brain and the career fields associated with neuroscience through speakers, movies, and hands-on activities.

Our mission at UC is simple: educate our student peers about the impact of philanthropy on campus, expose others to the field of fundraising/university advancement, and serve as a resource to enhance Organizational Leadership - Nonprofit and Community Leadership students and all other majors. We plan on fulfilling this mission by providing students with the best educational, professional, service, and social experiences that relate to the field of advancement and philanthropy. With the support of the AFP Greater Cincinnati Professional Chapter and the Organizational Leadership Major housed in Arts & Sciences Psychology, we believe that we will have remarkable success. Extensive networking opportunities will be available as well as connections to internships. We also offer networking opportunities and professional event opportunities with the Greater Cincinnati AFP professional chapter and the possibility to interact with generous benefactors. If you're interested, we invite you to come to an AFP-NOLA meeting and see all that our organization has to offer. The Nonprofit Organizational Leadership Association has a great year coming up with educational sessions covering a wide range of topics.

Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International is a professional law fraternity advancing integrity, compassion and courage through service to the student, the school, the profession and the community. The Undergraduate Philosophy Club is a student organization whose objective is simply to engage in philosophucal discusson and inquire across a wide range of topics. The club meets weekly during the academic year. Send and invite to their campus link page or the "UC Philosophy Club" on Facebook.

The mission of PRSSA is to serve our members by enhancing their knowledge of public relations and providing access to professional development opportunities. To serve the public relations profession by helping to develop highly qualified, well-prepared professionals.

Association of Fundraising Professionals - Nonprofit Organizational Leadership Association (AFP-NOLA) was built to support Organizational Leadership majors and minors and all other students at UC interested in leadership and fundraising. The Organizational Leadership club is housed in the AFP- collegiate chapter (UC Foundation) and ORGL.   We are a resource for students interested in professional development, networking, and community service.

Our mission:

We are an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management. SHRM is a national organization of HR Professionals, students, and those wanting to learn more about the human resources profession.

The Society of Physics Students is open to any UC student, both graduate or undergraduate, who is interested in physics. We exist to help make students into contributing members of the scientific community. 

Sense of community is one of the major factors in student retention, we aim to foster a sense of belonging among physics students and assist them on their journey to becoming science-minded professionals.

A student chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) was formed in 1990 and continues to actively provide journalism students with workshops, conferences, regional meetings and professional contacts. The student chapter is part of a network of student and professional chapters.

Did you know that there is an organization at the University of Cincinnati for you? The purpose of Sociology Organization of Students is to provide connections for undergraduate students of sociology. SOS is for your benefit and you are invited to help shape the organization. Please come to the meetings and share your ideas. Through involvement and participation in SOS you can gain leadership experience, a valuable tool for success upon graduation.

SOS has several goals:

  1. To provide a network for students who share common goals and interest.
  2. To provide students with helpful tools to pursue graduate school or professional careers.
  3. To familiarize undergraduate sociology students with department faculty, graduate students and events.
  4. To provide undergraduate sociology students opportunities to participate in community service projects.

SPIA USA, the School of Public and International Affairs Undergraduate Student Alliance, will aim to reach students who are interested in politics, security, and the law and give them opportunities to interact with each other and professionals. Meetings will often include guest speakers who address various topics and take questions from members.

The News Record is the independent student news organization at the University of Cincinnati. From covering the latest news on campus and in Cincinnati to reviewing the best (and worst) in entertainment, The News Record is the voice of UC’s student population. 

The News Record is the premier way on campus to immerse yourself in the ultimate journalism experience. Our special edition magazines are published twice a semester and informs the UC community on the latest in news, sports, entertainment, college life, opinion and more. Our multimedia coverage gives videographers the opportunity to develop engaging video, slideshows and audio pieces to provide readers with the ultimate viewing experience.

Triota (Iota Iota Iota) is a national academic and service-based honor society with a focus on proactive community service. We work to promote and support academic excellence and to facilitate activist endeavors among students in the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department (WGSS). 'Triota takes its name from the initial "I" in the names of three ancient goddesses: Inanna, Ishtar, and Isis'.

UC Influence is a student-run PR firm affiliated with UC PRSSA. Every fall, the firm does a competitive campaign; every spring, they do a local/non-profit campaign. The firm has been recognized twice in recent campaigns for their competitive work. They were invited to present to industry and government representatives in Washington D.C. in 2013 and 2016. Their competitions and campaigns provide PR students an excellent opportunity for professional learning experiences while enabling them to have fun, to practice their strategic thinking and campaign building skills, and to prepare them for professional practice. All students are welcome!

The Undergraduate English Society (UES) includes every English major at the University of Cincinnati, and is open to anyone interested. Along with informal monthly meetings, the UES organizes several events throughout the year including:
