2025-2026 Call for Submissions
Are you interested in sharing your writing with a larger audience? Publishing your work beyond just your classroom Canvas? If you were enrolled in a composition course (ENGL 099, 1001, 2089) during Summer 2025, Fall 2025, or Spring 2026, you are invited to submit your work for acceptance to the virtual Writing Showcase!
This virtual Writing Showcase will feature select materials from composition students across all UC campuses (UCBA, Clifton, and UC Clermont). The virtual Writing Showcase website features selected works from composition students and creates a permanent space to highlight student achievements. Website viewers may include other students, instructors, and future employers, due to the public-facing nature of the website. You can view the Writing Showcase website to see previous selections.
Who can submit? Any students who were enrolled in a composition course (ENGL 099, 1001 (with or without assistance), or 2089) between Summer 2025 and Spring 2026 can submit work for the Writing Showcase.
What to submit? We encourage students to submit work (up to 2 submissions with the possibility of 1 acceptance per person) that they found fun as well as challenging, informative, or beneficial to compose! Submissions should include:
- Some type of show-off worthy product that was developed within the composition course that took place between Summer 2025 and Spring 2026. This might include formal essays, multimedia creations, or other non- traditional ‘polished’ texts.
2. Background information
- your full name, M-number, and contact information
- the class, in which you completed the submitted work (ENGL 099, 1001(with or without assistance), or 2089);
- the semester when this work was completed (Summer 2025, Fall 2025, or Spring 2026)
- the name of your English Professor, in whose class this work was completed
3. A coordinating 150-word rationale that addresses the following questions:
- What were the goals/purpose for the assignment?
- How did you approach the assignment (the composing process)?
Please submit all materials to the Microsoft form linked below.
Where to submit? Please submit all materials here: 2025-2026 Writing Showcase Submissions
When are submissions due? Submissions are due by May 1, 2026 in order to be considered for publication on the Writing Showcase website during the 2026-2027 academic year.
What can students expect after submission? Submissions will be reviewed by the Writing Showcase Planning Committee, which is a group of English department faculty from Clifton, UCBA, and Clermont. Students will be notified via email by the end of Summer 2026 if their materials have been accepted for publication, if any further materials are needed, and when they can expect their materials to go live on the website. Students will not need to be physically present for an in-person or an online synchronous event. Publication information will be shared for students to highlight on their resume or CV!
