Discovery in Action
The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati has a proud legacy of turning curiosity into groundbreaking achievements. From the historic discovery of Benadryl by Dr. George Rieveschl, whose work revolutionized allergy treatment worldwide, to alumna Shae Combs, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 as part of a team at the Cincinnati Enquirer while still a student, our community embodies the spirit of Discovery in Action. Graduate student Elana Johns Wolfe also exemplified this ethos with her impactful research on eviction, providing critical insights into housing instability and influencing local policy discussions. Our faculty, students, and alumni consistently push boundaries and make lasting contributions, transforming innovative ideas into real-world solutions and narratives that resonate far beyond the classroom.
Discovery in Action is about taking what we learn and moving forward, not remaining stagnant. Whether that be groundbreaking research that goes on to change the world, or a lecture that changes the future of a single student... it’s all Discovery in Action.
Discovery in Action Poster Forum Competition
Discovery in Action is embodied by more than just the Faculty, Staff and Alumni of the college. It can be seen everyday in the work of our students as well. The first ever College of Arts and Sciences Discovery in Action Poster Forum Competition will be held in conjuction with the Showcase to highlight how our students embody Discovery in Action.
