Digital Media at UC is an interdisciplinary, team-based program that promotes a human-centered approach to digital media. Students work with advanced media tools to tell their stories and emerge from the program prepared for employment in the vibrant and rapidly developing world of digital media.
In Digital Media courses, students work with instructors who are leading experts in their fields, have many years of industry experience, and are actively engaged in ongoing creative projects. Courses are collaborative and combine theory and history with hands-on experience.
As a Digital Media student, you will begin your studies by working with instructors and fellow students to explore and discover the many opportunities and paths available in the world of digital media. You will then move on to advanced knowledge and training in your chosen area of focus: Animation, Directing, Games, or Screenwriting. You are encouraged to combine courses in different areas to create a program that reflects your interests and skills. Your studies will conclude with the development of your portfolio and a final creative capstone project during your senior year. That project will be not only your final project as a student, but your first project as a professional.
Digtial Media students gain real-world experience through internships, assistantships, summer camps, and study abroad from the moment they arrive on campus up to the completion of their senior project. The program partners with businesses and production companies throughout the region and around the globe, giving our students opportunities to work and network with a diverse group of creative and professional organizations. Exciting opportunities are posted on the program’s internal page on a regular basis.
Now, more than ever, it is essential to have the skills to communicate across digital platforms and the knowledge to understand how these platforms work.
