Laura Micciche, associate professor of English, directs the graduate program in rhetoric and composition and serves as editor of Composition Studies. Her primary research areas are feminist rhetorical theory, writing pedagogy, and theories of composing. Her recent book, Acknowledging Writing Partners, examines the genre of acknowledgments to reveal what she calls "writing partners”: agents that both enable and constrain writing production. The book especially highlights the role of feeling, time, and animal partners in the work of composing. She has published Doing Emotion: Rhetoric, Writing, Teaching (2007), the co-edited A Way to Move: Rhetorics of Emotion and Composition Studies (2003), as well as various book chapters and articles in College English; College Composition and Communication; Pedagogy; Composition Forum; WPA; Rhetoric Review, and elsewhere. She is recipient of the university-wide A.B. Dolly Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching from UC and twice of the departmental Boyce teaching award.
