African Studies Certificate

A certificate in African Studies presents a wide array of possibilities both educational and professional. It can not only benefit students preparing for graduate education but the Certificate can also be used in conjunction with any traditional major to prepare for many professions involving indigenous peoples of Africa and diasporic peoples of African descent.

Certificate Program Requirements:

1) Contact Dr. Kalubi and apply to graduate with the Certificate

2) Complete the required course work offered in the Department of Africana Studies and other academic units throughout the University in each of the following areas: African language, culture, literature, history, sociology, politics, economics and/or religion

3) Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in courses offered for the Certificate

4) File an application to graduate with a Certificate in African Studies to the AFST Certificate Director: Dr. John Kalubi prior to the semester of graduation
