What is Women's Studies?
(top)
· Women's
Studies in an interdisciplinary field of study that helps us understand
the complexity of both women's and men's lives. Through
a broad range of subjects,
Women's Studies raises questions
about gender, race, sexual orientation, nationality
and class.
· Women's
Studies encourages critical thinking about personal identities, cultural
and artistic expressions, social arrangements, economic and political
systems, and global issues through studying the multiple perspectives
and experiences of diverse women and men.
Women's Studies
examines women's roles and achievements historically and cross-culturally
and challenges stereotypes of women and men.
Because it promotes
self-awareness and empowers individuals to work for social
change, Women's
Studies is one of the fastest growing fields of study in higher
education.
