Students design research projects based on interests, coursework, previous research, faculty partnerships, and Department needs. Several of these projects have been published in academic journals; some have been the basis for doctoral research; others have prepared graduates to work in specific fields. Students work closely with a committee of three faculty members from different disciplines, and complete a 40-page paper as well as an oral exam. Two students have made video documentaries as part of their research projects.
