Undergraduate Residents

Students with at least a 2.5 overall GPA are invited to fill out this application form
and return it to the Undergraduate Advisor in Romance Languages and Literatures. Applications are accepted throughout the year, but you should apply by April 15 to be considered for a $1000 scholarship for the following year.

Prices for Stratford Heights - of which Valentine House is a part - are listed on this website.

The criteria for admission to Valentine House are scholarship, commitment to language learning, and ability to live in a language immersion community, as indicated by your grades, your responses to the questions on the application form, the judgments of the two teachers whose names you list on the application form, and (in some cases) by an interview with the Undergraduate Advisor.

In general, we dol not admit students who, at any time during the academic year, are not registered full-time at UC (e.g., students on study abroad, co-op, or internships outside of Cincinnati).

Once you have been admitted to Valentine House, you need to secure your room by applying to and signing a rental agreement with Stratford Heights. The French and Spanish floors each have 2 single rooms, 3 double rooms, and 1 triple room. We will attempt to respect your preferences, but please keep in mind that singles are in high demand.

Once you move into Valentine House, your Resident Adivsor will ask you to sign a contract stating that you will speak French or Spanish as much as possible. For your information, the French form is provided here, and the Spanish form here.
