Basic Spanish Courses

The College of Arts & Sciences requires students to complete either a 15 credit sequence (one year), or an 18 credit sequence (two years). All incoming students should be placed in language courses according to previous language study. Students with fewer than 2 years of high school language will be placed in the 111 or 101 level. Those who have studied Spanish for 2 or more years will be placed in the 103 level. It is possible to place out of the language requirement in French, Spanish and German by taking the placement exam in the Language Resource Center (Old Chem 612) and scoring above 500. An appointment is necessary during business hours. You will need a UC or other picture ID. Results are available immediately, and the student then submits these results to the appropriate Undergraduate Director, who confirms the waiver to the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences Arts.
