Basic Portuguese Courses

The College of Arts & Sciences requires students to complete either a 15-credit sequence (one year), or an 18-credit sequence (two years). Students who have studied Portuguese in secondary school or who have lived in Portugal or Brazil should consult with the Department to determine the appropriate placement. Those who place above the first course may earn a maximum of 10 credits if they earn a grade "C" or better in the course which they place.

The department of Romance Languages offers two sequences in basic Portuguese:
