Professional Summary

Prof. Gutiérrez has previously taught in universities of France (Université de Strasbourg) and Spain (Soria College, U of Valladolid). He is the author of La red ciega (Lima: Hipocampo, 2008; short stories [reviews]); La espada, el rayo y la pluma: Quevedo y los campos literario y de poder (Purdue UP, 2005;[read a review]) and Dejémonos de cuentos (Valladolid, 1994; short stories). He has also published a number of book-chapters on different issues and reviews and articles in academic journals such as Hispanic Review, Boletín de la Biblioteca Menéndez Pelayo, Cervantes, Iberoamericana, Calíope, Romance Languages Annual, Perinola, Bulletin of the Comediantes or Espéculo. His research focuses on the Early Modern Spanish literary field and on authorial self-fashioning. He currently works on a book-length study about Cervantes and in coordinating a volume on Quevedo's reception. Prof. Gutiérrez is the director of the UC Summer Program in Madrid, Spain and Cincinnati Romance Review Spanish editor.
