Undergraduate Studies | Biopsychology Option

Download the Biopsychology Major Guide [doc]

The Biopsychology Option is a variation of the psychology major especially designed for students who are considering careers in medicine or in physiological psychology or who have an interest in the natural sciences.  It leads to the BA degree.  No special distinction between this or any other option will be made on the diploma or transcripts.  Psychology majors electing this option are subject to the general requirements and regulations of the Department and of the A&S College, as outlined elsewhere.

A total of at least 54 credits is required in the field of concentration.  Unless otherwise stated, Psychology 101-102-103, or equivalent introductory course, is a prerequisite for all other psychology courses and will not be counted toward the 54 hours in the field of concentration.  Ordinarily, credits earned in the introductory sequence will apply toward meeting the behavioral and social sciences requirement of the Arts and Sciences College.  In the case of the Biopsychology Option, the field of concentration may include certain recommended biology courses, in addition to courses offered by the Psychology Department.
