  Addictive Behaviors

Our focus is on understanding the similarities and uniqueness across a range of addictive behaviors. We view Addictive Behaviors through the Social Learning Theory (Rotter) model of choice behavior. Most of our work focuses on the interplay of personality, cognitive, and social behaviors as they relate to the initiation and maintenance of addictive processes. Expectancies, both for the effects of the addictive behaviors and for the social consequences of the behavior, form a cornerstone of this research.
