About the Philosophy Department
The Philosophy Department
at the University of Cincinnati offers a full range of courses in the
history of philosophy and contemporary philosophical problems. Graduate
students may choose to work in either the "Traditional Track"
or the "Philosophy and the Sciences Track." The latter calls
for graduate work in an empirical science and culminates in an interdisciplinary
dissertation. The department is recognized for its strengths in Philosophy
of Mind/Cognitive Science, Philosophy of the Life Sciences, and Aesthetics.
The department sponsors a vibrant speaker series and an annual colloquium
featuring multiple speakers addressing a single theme. See the events
section of this website for information about upcoming speakers. To
receive email notices of upcoming talks, please subscribe to the department's
listserve list. You may subscribe at the folowing website: Philosophy
Listserv.
A unique feature
of this website is the videos
page. During the course of the next two years, we expect to add
more interviews with department faculty members talking about their
research.
