Professor Plank's interests encompass the eighteenth-century British Empire, the North American continent in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Native American history, and Quakerism. Plank is on leave for the 2009-10 academic year, writing a book tentatively entitled Peace in the British Empire: John Woolman, Imperialism and the Peaceable Kingdom, under contract with the University of Pennsylvania Press
