Professional Summary
Steve Porter conducted his Doctoral and Masters work at the University of Chicago, and his undergraduate studies at Miami University. His teaching and research focus on the intersections between the international and domestic dimensions of modern U.S. history, or what is coming to be known as the "U.S. and the World." He specializes in the history of human rights, U.S. foreign affairs, law, politics, public administration, immigration, race and ethnicity, philanthropy, ethics, labor, and institutions. His current work examines humanitarian aid initiatives in the 20th century performed by both governmental and nongovernmental organizations on behalf of millions of political refugees and other victims of war and man-made violence.
