Opportunities/Internships

Unique Opportunities
With the help of the Charles Phelps Taft Fund, the Department of History arranges for majors to meet a prominent historian whose book they have read in their sophomore seminar, Introduction to Historical Thinking. The department also brings in other distinguished professors to give lectures and informal seminars as well as providing opportunities for undergraduate research with award winning teachers. Qualified students may also apply for the Taft Undergraduate Enrichment Award.

Internships
Every year the History Department helps interested students find public history internships that introduce them to possible careers in a range of fields such as historic preservation, museums, archives, and documentary film. Some of these internship opportunities are paid, others are on a voluntary basis. Most of our internships are arranged with institutions in the Cincinnati area or the state of Ohio, but opportunities are also usually available in Washington D.C. and other states.

If you are interested in a part-time history internship during the academic year or would like to spend a summer getting hands-on experience in a history-related field, contact Professor Tracy Teslow at 556-2557 or by email at tracy.teslow@uc.edu. You can also learn more about internships at UC by visiting the A&S website where you'll find helpful information about UC's extensive programs to provide students with experiential education opportunities in a wide range of areas.
