The Academy of World Languages is a partnership program between the Department of German Studies of the University of Cincinnati and the Academy of World Languages of the Cincinnati Public Schools. This program seeks to facilitate a cooperative program whereby Department of German Studies undergraduate as well as graduate students would work directly as mentors/interns with the German students and faculty at AWL to enrich their learning experience, act as role models, provide technology support, facilitate the acquisition of multi-media teaching materials, establish contact with a school in Germany and ultimately launch an exchange program with that school in Germany. Through on-campus visits by the AWL students, class visitations, short programs as well as educational field trips to explore Cincinnatis German heritage, the AWL students would gain greater insight into university life and be able to meet students and faculty in a university setting. This effort ties in
with the University of Cincinnatis long-range recruitment effort
and also exposes these students to see the unlimited possibilities and
rewards that are open to them if they concentrate on their studies and
continue their education. (Last Update: 05/081/2003) |
