Minor and Certificates in Asian Studies

Minor and Certificates

Students majoring in another area may earn a Minor in Asian Studies or a Certificate in Japanese or Chinese Language and Culture. These are available to students in any college at UC.

A Minor in Asian Studies requires 21 credit hours, selected from courses in the languages, social sciences, and humanities; see further details in the ‘Undergraduate AIST minor requirements’ below.

Curriculum Planning
1. Upon completing one or two classes for the minor or certificate, students should declare the relevant minor or certificate online.
2. Students should then complete the necessary 21 credits of coursework for the minor as noted in the ‘Undergraduate AIST minor requirements’.
3. No later than one semester before graduation, students should fill-out and return the ‘Undergraduate AIST minor requirements’ grid to the Asian Studies program director.
