►Received a Graduate Student Research Fellowship from the University of Cincinnati Research Council, Summer 2009, to research coercive rhetoric in the private sphere.
    
►Awarded an honorable mention from the Jean Chimsky Poetry Prize,
University of Cincinnati, June 2008.
    
 ►Named the recipient of the Judith Blackburn Award for the best graduating senior English major writer at Northern Kentucky University, May 2007.
    
►Received first and third place in the Northern Kentucky University LaLink
Creative Writing Contest for the poems “I Loved You Like Guacamole” and
“Lies and Therapy,” April 2006.  

►Presented with the R.M. Miller Award for Outstanding Fiction Writing, first
place, for excerpt from middle-grade novel titled Accidentally Dorkwood,
April 2006.  

►Won first place from The Eric D. Meier Poetry Scholarship, April 2006.
