The McMicken Health Research Center (MHRC) brings together faculty from across the College of Arts & Sciences who focus on health research. We support the university’s Creating Our Third Century initiative by helping to build a culture of cross-disciplinary collaboration in health research.
Unlike many of our sister research centers, the MHRC is not under the aegis of a single department. Instead, it seeks to create an intellectual community that crosses traditional boundaries and promotes collaboration among researchers from a spectrum of disciplines in the sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities.
Building on this cross-disciplinary synergy and our strengths as a research institution, our health researchers and scholars can work in ways that foster innovation and accelerate scientific advances. Our vision is to translate health research from multiple perspectives into solutions for complex and urgent problems in our community and around the world.
We support faculty and their health-related research by
- Promoting cross-disciplinary collaborations between faculty in A&S, across campus, and in the community
- Providing a convenient portal to access needed resources
- Assisting researchers with grant-seeking
- Providing professional development opportunities.
