ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The deadline for full-time student applications is February 15 for the following academic year (Fall-Summer). Part-time applicant files must be complete 4 weeks prior to the desired quarter of admission for review. All full-time applicants are considered for financial assistance on a competitive basis for the following academic year dependent on funding availability. Part-time students are not eligible for financial assistance. Information will be added to applicant files as received, but files will not be reviewed until complete.

Applications to the program are submitted online through the University of Cincinnati Graduate School webpage (http://www.grad.uc.edu/). A completed student file must include application, official academic transcripts, letters of reference, personal goal statement, and verified GRE scores. The file will not be reviewed until it is complete. In making decisions concerning admission and financial awards, the following criteria will be generally applied:

A completed student file must include:

(A) a cover letter stating the desired term of admission and indication of full-time or part-time status,

(B) official academic transcripts,

(C) verified GRE scores (submitted electronically from ETS),

(D) a personal goal statement

(E) and, three letters of reference that speak to the applicant's motivation and ability to undertake graduate study,

In making decisions concerning admission and financial awards, the following minimum criteria will be generally applied:

1. Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

2. An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above.

3. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of 1000 (verbal + quantitative) or better, plus over 3.5 analytical.

4. Receipt of three letters of recommendation from professors or others who can speak to the applicant's ability/achievement/potential/motivation for undertaking graduate study.

5. An assessment of the student's goals in pursuing the theoretical study of human communication.

6. For international students, a TOEFL score of 640 or better is required.
