Carol Tonge Mack is a bold leader and visionary in her strategic methods to help students graduate. Carol believes she's the wide-receiver in her organization; when given the opportunity, she'll score for the team.
Carol is the Associate Director in the Center for Exploratory Studies at the University of Cincinnati (UC). She is the co-creator of the Center which has been recognized by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) as one of the top three exemplary programs, providing intentional resources to undecided and exploratory students.
She received her B.A. in History from Middlebury College, M.ED in Counseling, and M.A. in Teaching from the University of New Hampshire. Carol's commitment to student access, retention, and success led to the creation and development of the University of Cincinnati’s first sophomore program, an initiative to prevent the “sophomore slump” and help retain sophomores to the University. She advocates for all students and has a special emphasis on low-income, first generation, and underserved students. These experiences led to numerous educational awards and recognition. Carol is a master presenter; her inspirational and engaging style will captivate any audience. There's never a dull moment in her regional and national conference presentations.
Carol’s leadership skills have been recognized by top administrators at the university; she was nominated and accepted to the third Class of the C-Change Leadership Program for young professionals with the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. A native of the Caribbean island of Antigua, Carol grew up in the South Bronx, New York City; her extended family resides in Harlem, New York. She enjoys cooking Caribbean dishes and loves spending time with her amazing husband, James and two miraculous children.
