Professional Summary

Holt PARKER holds a PhD in Classics from YaleUniversity and is Professor of Classics at the University of Cincinnati. He hasbeen awarded the Rome Prize, the Women's Classical Caucus Prize for Scholarship(twice), a Loeb Library Foundation Grant, and a Fellowship from the NationalEndowment for the Humanities. He also won First Prize for Shaped Yeast Bread atthe Hamilton County Ohio Fair.

He has published on Sappho, Sulpicia, sexuality,slavery, sadism, and spectacles. Olympia Morata: The Complete Writings of anItalian Heretic (Chicago, 2003) was given the Josephine Roberts Award bythe Society for the Study of Early Modern Women. With WilliamJohnson, he edited Ancient Literacies: The Culture of Reading in Greece and Rome(Oxford, 2009). His translation (the first complete inEnglish) of Censorinus' curious work, TheBirthday Book (Chicago, 2009) makes an attractive present. Forthcoming is TheHermaphrodite: Antonio Beccadelli in I TattiRenaissance Library.
