Professional Summary
Doug specializes in student retention and graduation, academic advising, major exploration, and special projects including advisor training, freshman orientation and commencement. He joined the McMicken College of Arts & Sciences and UC's Center for Exploratory Studies in May of 2006, and primarily works with exploratory freshmen and former exploratory students who have declared an A&S major. Doug is the advising liaison to the African and African-American Studies, Geology, and Political Science departments, and UC's College of Allied Health Sciences. He also serves as an exploratory advising liaison to UC's Athletic Department, an advising liaison to UC's First Year Experience program and is the staff advisor of the UC Fishing Club. Previous to UC he worked as a senior career specialist with the Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates' (JCG) Senior-to-Career program for 14 years advising Purcell Marian High School seniors. His program and high school was recognized for over a decade by Jobs for America’s Graduates, Inc. for their students’ many achievements. He also has management, training, and human resources experience in both large and small businesses. Born in Ashland, OH but raised in Cincinnati, Doug enjoys fishing the Forks of the Elkhorn River outside Frankfort, KY from a canoe, barbecuing, baking, politics, and following many sports including our Bearcats. Doug and his partner, Kevin, currently live in Madisonville.
