Open Positions in McMicken College
Head, Department of Sociology
The Department of Sociology in the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences invites applications and nominations for the position of Department Head , effective September 1, 2008. Candidates must be full-time faculty at the University, have a Ph. D. in Sociology, and have a strong scholarly record. Only candidates who will have tenure at the time of appointment will be considered. Candidates should also possess demonstrated leadership and administrative skills and have a commitment to faculty growth and development, improved external funding, the promotion of interdisciplinary activity and to quality graduate and undergraduate education. The successful Department Head will promote the department and the discipline within the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences, the University of Cincinnati, and the larger community.

Head, Department of Romance Languages and Literatures
The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures invites applications for the Position of Department Head to begin September 1, 2008. Candidates must be tenured faculty at the University of Cincinnati and have a PhD in the Humanities. The successful candidate will have a strong scholarly record with a research strength in either literature, linguistics, or second language pedagogy. Fluency in a Romance language required. Candidates should possess demonstrated leadership and administrative skills.
Experience with budgets is desirable. They must actively advance faculty development and support faculty research. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, including basic language instruction. He or she will also be willing to engage with fundraising. The successful candidate will promote and represent the Department and the discipline within the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences, the University of Cincinnati, and the larger community.
