Brock Clarke, English

Won the Emily Balch Award in Fiction for best story published in Virginia Quarterly Review; another story, "The Ghosts We Love," was named one of the One Hundred Best American Short Stories 2006.

William R. Heineman, Chemistry

Received the 2006 Sensor Division Outstanding Achievement Award at the ECS Joint International Meeting, Cancun, Mexico.

Holt Parker, Classics

Won the Women's Classical Caucus Prize for the best article published in Classics in the area of gender studies.

Theresa Reineke, Chemistry

Named a 2007 Sloan Fellow - the only Sloan Fellow in the state.

Anne Sisson Runyan, Women's Studies

Named the 2007 Eminent Feminist International Relations Scholar by the Feminist Theory and Gender Studies Section of the International Studies Association.

Lucy Schultz, English

Awarded the Modern Language Association's Mina P. Shaughnessy Prize for her co-authored book, "Archives of Instruction," named the outstanding book published in the field of Rhetoric and Composition.

Nicasio Urbina, Romance Languages and Literatures

Received the 2007 Casa Museo Rubén Darío Award, presented by UNAN-Léon, for his study of the Works of Rubén Darío.
