Professional Summary
Omotayo Banjo, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Communication at the University of Cincinnati, Department of Communication. She obtained her B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in English at Penn State University. She later received her PhD in Mass Communication, with an emphasis on Media Effects, from Penn State University in 2009.
Her research examines the usage and effects of ethnic entertainmenton self-identity, social perception and social engagement. She has presented her research at regional, national andinternational conferences which include the International CommunicationAssociation, Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication and the Collegium for African-AmericanResearch. She has also guest-lectured on diverse topics including race and themedia, media and globalization, and implications of new mediatechnologies across the country. Dr. Banjo teaches an introductory-level course and courses relevant to media theory and diversity issues.
