Agreement On The Need To Hire

  • Agreement is reached between Dean and Department to open a search for a position
  • Position is defined by:
    1. Rank, salary, begin date
    2. Justification of need to hire in a cover letter
  • Copy of proposed ad must be submitted with A126 documentation
  • Department is advised that the position has been approved at all levels to be filled and to proceed with advertising.
    OR
    Department is advised that the position has been approved by the Dean and is pending additional approval. All ads must include statement to the effect that filling the position is contingent on budget approval.
  • Searches for all faculty positions should be conducted with the goal of finding the best person within the framework of the University's commitment to equal employment opportunity. Every effort shall be made to ensure a diverse applicant pool, including but not limited to, contacts with other institutions, organizations, publications, and/or individuals who are in a position to assist in attracting highly qualified applicants. Recruitment efforts will include advertising in publications geared to attracting culturally diverse candidates and using appropriate resume banks.
