Fast Track A-900, Ranking Candidates for Hiring

During the selection process of the preferred candidate, the search committee typically ranks the candidates as best, better and good. In this type of situation where the department finds that more than one candidate acceptable, the committee may elect to indicate the rank order of candidates on the A-900.

Indicate the rank order by the individual's name using a #1, 2, 3 or 4 in lieu of indicating just one preferred candidate with an "X." Only rank those candidates that the department approves as acceptable for the open position. Not every candidate has to be ranked.

As the A-900 is reviewed at different levels, each candidate that is ranked is also reviewed as to their acceptability in the position.

The Fast Track Ranking System allows departments to make an offer to the #2 candidate if the #1 candidate declines an offer or withdraws from the search. Repeating with candidate #3 or #4 if necessary. No additional Affirmative Action Forms are required to be submitted. The original A-900 is acceptable for any ranked candidate.
