Part-time
Faculty With Teaching and Non-teaching Assignments
Term
adjunct and lecturer and annually appointed adjuncts can perform
non-teaching duties as long as their total workload is below the
maximum FTE% as stated in the University Guidelines for Part-time
Faculty Appointment.
Based
on current calculations of 18% FTE representing a 3-credit hour
course with 30 hours of classroom time, the following credit hour

Units
should not assign duties to adjuncts and lecturers beyond the maximum
allowable clock hours. Except for emergency classroom staffing needs,
approvals to appoint adjuncts and lecturers beyond the FTE limits
will not be granted. We must ensure that part-time faculty do not
work full-time hours.
