Suggested text for admission letters with partial UGS awards:

You are awarded a University Graduate Scholarship for the autumn, winter, and spring quarters, Academic Year 2001-02.  The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit.  It will pay approximately 90% of your full-time tuition and the General Fee.  If you are eligible for in-state tuition rates, the scholarship will provide $1803/quarter; your payment will be $215/quarter.  If you are assessed out-of-state tuition rates, the scholarship will provide $3428/quarter; your payment will be $405/quarter.  These are the current academic year fees.  A 6% tuition rate increase is expected for AY’2001-02.  Any change in the rates for the 2001-02 academic year will be applied to the scholarship amount.  In addition to tuition and the General Fee, all students must pay the ITIE (technology) fee (currently $70/quarter) and the Student Health Insurance (currently $278/quarter - single student) unless eligible for an insurance waiver.

Notes:  The recommended co-pay suggested here assumes there will be a 6% increase in tuition and the general fee in 2001-02.  The co-pay was adjusted upward (from $380 to $405, out-of-state, and from $200 to $215, in-state) to accommodate the 6% increase.  The tuition and fees for 2001-02 will not be officially announced until Summer 2001.
